Well, pears in general are oval or round in shape. Human
civilization must have been savoring pears in the same shape for hundreds of
years probably. But the history of pear took a new turn when someone in China
came up with the pears shaped like praying Buddha.
It all happened with a plan when a clever Chinese farmer dreamed
of shaping his pears into praying Buddhas. He encased the young pears in the
molds of praying Buddhas he made. The young fruits as they began to grow had no
other options but to form the shape of the molds in which they were encased.
Hence they took the shape of the spiritual figure.
The market of Buddhas Pears is gaining height these days
from local to national level. They are also sold in the neighboring countries of China like Vietnam and Japan. The farmers wish to expand the market to an
international level to enchant the customers and smear the symbol of peace in
the other parts of world. In international market today, they are sold at $8
per fruit.
Well, if you can shape pears, you can also shape other
fruits! Think about Buddhas Apples!
